Came across the interview session of Starbucks founder Howard Schultz, he rarely mentioned the word "Coffee" throughout the conversation. He again highlights Starbucks is Not in the Coffee business, it is the product they sell yet not what it's stand for. Howard strengthen the fundamental of Starbucks was to sell dreams to customers who desires a "third place"between work and home.
Apple is not the computer business; it's in the business of unleashing your personal creativity.
Cranium is not the game business; it's the business of selling self-esteem.
It's not the products they sell, yet the Value of business that position in buyer's mind, allowing these Brands to stand firm in marketplace. -Cathryn Yap See Ling
